Ed Emshwiller

Ed Emshwiller was born in 1925 in Lansing, Michigan/USA. In 1957 he graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. From 1949 to 1959 he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris. In addition to his work as a visual artist, he worked as an illustrator for numerous science fiction magazines between 1951 and 1970. From 1979 to 1990 he was dean of the California Institute of Arts, Valencia. Ed Emshwiller died in Valencia in 1990.
