Eleanor Antin

Eleanor Antin was born in 1935 in New York, USA. In the 1950s she took private acting lessons with Tamara Daykarhanova in New York and studied creative writing at the City College of New York. She first worked as an actress and dancer before exploring conceptual painting and turning to performance art. In 1968 she moved to California, where she taught as a professor in the Visual Arts Department at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) from 1975 on, and is now emeritus professor. Eleanor Antin still lives and works in La Jolla, San Diego.
