Franz Xaver Ölzant

Franz Xaver Ölzant was born in 1934 in Oberzeiring, Styria, Austria. From 1955 to 1958 he studied at the University (then College) of Applied Arts, Vienna. From 1978 to 1982 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, where he held a professorship from 1986 to 2001. In 1980 he received the Prize of the City of Vienna for Sculpture, in 1989 the Appreciation Prize of the Province of Styria for Fine Arts and in 2005 the Lower Austrian Culture Prize (Appreciation Prize). Franz Xaver Ölzant lives in Vienna and Pfaffenschlag near Waidhofen an der Thaya, Lower Austria.
