Hartmut Skerbisch
Hartmut Skerbisch was born in 1945 in Ramsau, Styria, Austria. He studied architecture at the Technical University, Graz. From 1969 he worked as an artist, initially conceptually with the media of photography and video, and increasingly turned to sculpture. Among his best-known works is the Light Sword in front of the Opera in Graz, erected in 1992 as part of the Styrian Autumn. In 2009 he was posthumously awarded the Wüdigungspreis of the province of Styria for visual arts. Hartmut Skerbisch died in 2009 in Kalsdorf near Ilz in eastern Styria, Austria.
