Helmut Mark
Helmut Mark was born in 1958 in Stall, Carinthia, Austria. From 1976 to 1981 he studied painting at the University (then College) of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 1983 Mark founded "Unabhängige Film & Video Austria" (UFVA, until 1988) and Blix (until 1986) with Gudrun Bielz, Helmut Rainer, Eva Schlegel and Heimo Zobernig, among others. In 1994 he was co-founder and operator of the Internet culture server "The Thing Vienna" (until 1999). From 1995 to 1922 he was a professor at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, Leipzig, Germany. He is a member of the Vienna Secession. Helmut Mark lives and works in Vienna and Leipzig.
The artist developed multimedia and telecommunication projects in computer, video and audio from 1985.
