John Baldessari
John Baldessari was born in 1931 in National City, California, USA. He studied at San Diego State College, among other places, graduating with a Master of Arts degree in 1957. He taught at the University of California, San Diego from 1967 to 1970 and at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia from 1970 to 1988. From 1996 to 2007 he was a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. Baldessari received numerous awards for his work, including the Oskar Kokoschka Prize (1996) and the Golden Lion of the Venice Biennale for his life's work in 2009. He lived and worked in Santa Monica, USA and passed away in Venice, California, USA in early January 2020.
