Richard Landry
Richard Landry was born in 1938 in Cecilia, Louisiana, and studied music at the University of South-western Louisiana. He has performed in major concert halls as well as galleries, museums and major exhibitions in the U.S. and Europe, and participated in documenta 6, Kassel, Germany in 1977. Richard Landry lives and works in Lafayette, Louisiana, USA.
Richard Landry is a composer, musician and artist. Beginning in 1968, he became involved in experimental minimal and process music, which he learned about through his environment at the time - the postminimal and conceptual art scene in New York. From 1968 to 1981 he was a member of Philip Glass's ensemble. He worked with Robert Rauschenberg, the Trisha Brown Dance Company, Laurie Anderson and Robert Wilson and collaborated with artists such as Keith Sonnier, Lawrence Weiner and Richard Serra. Since 1970 Landry has given solo concerts as a tenor saxophonist and developed his own music performances, film and video works.
