Revision: (of Wittgenstein’s insight: The world is independent of my will, Tractatus Logico Philosophicus 6.373). The arrangement of the four parts of this sculpture is a model of the “world,” because I do not determine the order in which they are stacked, instead, each exhibitor does that… . In response to the question of whether the sculpture should be cast, one curator’s statement, that this piece was an indoor sculpture, led to the reversal of this sentence: “My will is independent of the world.” The indoor sculpture was thus supplemented by an outdoor version in aluminum. Containing this procedure of reversal as it does, this written description takes the place of photography. (Franz West)
